Bickford Senior Living

We are very proud to announce that we have teamed up with Bickford Senior Living to launch Bickford Home Care. A new service line designed to successfully deliver in-home care to Bickford’s current and future residents.

“We are thrilled to welcome Bickford Senior Living into the HCAN family,” said Mark Goetz, president, and CEO of HCAN. “Expanding into the home care arena will give the Bickford team a huge advantage in today’s competitive marketplace. We look forward to helping them bridge the gaps that exist between community care and home care. This way they can grow their business without adding brick and mortar.”

As a franchise partner, HCAN experts will provide the training, structure, and system support needed to establish and build a home care line. One that is separate but complementary to the organization’s current service offerings. The model also allows Bickford to extend services off-campus – establishing relationships with families early on in their senior care journey. This will also be paving the way for the eventual transition into a Bickford community.

“With our business format franchising partnership, the trusted Bickford brand will remain at the forefront, Goetz said. “That will be incredibly important as they begin competing with, instead of partnering with, other home care agencies.”

Family-Owned and Operated

Family-owned and operated since 1992, Bickford Senior Living currently provides care for more than 3,000 residents in 65 locations. Initially, it will offer in-home services in four of its branches – two in Chicago, one in the Cedar Rapids/Iowa City area, and one in the Muscatine/Quad Cities market.

“We’re excited to begin this venture with Mark and the HCAN team,” said Alan Fairbanks, executive vice president of operations at Bickford Senior Living. “Home care will be a significant part of our organization’s future because it compliments what we already do so well. We look forward to extending the love and care we give our residents out into the community, as well.”

As the industry rebounds from COVID-19 challenges, Goetz said other senior living providers are missing an incredible opportunity if they don’t follow Bickford’s lead.

“The pandemic laid bare the need for consistent, compassionate in-home care. It’s a service offering that families not only want – but now expect,” he said. “Bringing that business in-house, instead of partnering with outside agencies, will help senior living providers ensure their long-term viability in a rapidly changing environment.”
