The Cost of the Pandemic
From additional personal protective equipment and cleaning supplies to staffing and overtime… the cost of doing business during the pandemic could put many senior living providers out of business. A recent survey conducted by the American Health Care Association / National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL) showed 56 percent of assisted living operators believe that, because of COVID-related costs, they may be out of business in a year. According to a recent article in McKnight’s Senior Living, the survey of 240 assisted living operators found:
28% believe they can sustain operations for four to six months
22% said they can sustain operations for seven to 12 months
6% believe they can sustain operations for one to three months
44% believe they can sustain operations for more than 12 months
That’s certainly a grim prediction, but we believe adding in-home services could help many of these senior living providers overcome the challenges of these unprecedented times.
And That’s Where HCAN Comes In
For years, we’ve watched senior living providers struggle to effectively offer in-home services- even without the pressures created by COVID-19. That’s because while there are many synergies between community and in-home service offerings, they’re really very different.
We founded HCAN to help senior living providers take advantage of the franchise home care model that’s been incredibly successful. With our unique “white label” franchising partnership, our experts provide the training, structure, and system support to help providers effectively and efficiently add in-home services to their business.
In addition, our model also gives senior living providers the opportunity to extend services off-campus – establishing relationships with families early on in their senior care journey and laying the groundwork for the eventual transition into their communities. Now, more than ever, senior living providers need to offer in-home services – they’re missing an opportunity if they don’t.
