Pursuing the Success of Others

Meet The Team That Puts Our Values Into Action

That’s Why I Choose Home Care

The key to a great team is valuing and nurturing the unique talents of every individual. And that means getting beyond the facts and hearing the stories behind our HCAN Heroes and you, the people we serve.

For example, a client has a recent injury. Of course, we provide the basic care every day. But we also take the time to learn where that injury is having the most impact on their life – be that communicating with others, not being able to kneel at church, or any other issues that don’t show up on paper questionnaires and clipboards. And we do that by listening with compassion and getting to know what is really important to each of our clients.

As for our caregivers, caring for others in the professional world, we know success looks different for each of them. That’s why we’re making sure we’re meeting every individual caregiver’s needs, so they can come to work happy, healthy, and with their clients as their top priority. If they want to grow within the medical field, we encourage that growth and are happy to be a stepping stone in their path.

Meet the team that lives and breathes this, every single day.

I feel strongly that the best place for seniors is to be in their home environment where they’re most comfortable and where they’re most familiar because they’re going to thrive at home.

I live by the three things my grandma always told me, the Grandma Carol Rules: “Just because you think something should be a certain way does not mean it is the right way. Just because you do something a certain way does not mean it’s the right way. You do not need to say everything you think.”

Meet Nayeli Unzueta Suarez

I decided to get my CNA and go into caregiving because it’s something I grew up with. From a young age, I took care of my grandma. Helping others in this way is something I’ve always liked doing.

Helping others makes me feel good. I love working with people and developing great communication with them. I am motivated when I become close with a client and see improvements in their well-being.

Meet Serenity Rose

I’ve worked in customer service for a long time at Hy-Vee and Fareway grocery stores. I’ve realized my calling as an LPN. I really like the feeling of helping people in a very meaningful way, and I’m excited that being a caregiver with HCAN gives me that opportunity.

I like that HCAN supports my dream to get my LPN. I like working with older adults in their homes, helping them live there safely. I love doing different activities with my clients and helping make them happier. Overall, I really enjoy getting to know my clients and their families!

Meet Kailey Hall

I’ve wanted to be part of the nursing and health care fields for as long as I could remember. I grew up living with my grandparents and since I was little, my grandpa was at a nursing facility.

I started working at the same nursing facility at a young age, taking after other members of my family who worked there, too. Caregiving is a natural progression and I feel very confident in my abilities due to my prior experiences.

The relationship aspect has always been my favorite part of caring for others. I’m happy that HCAN prioritizes relationships above all else.

HCAN Heroes

We all came from somewhere. Somewhere that landed us here. There’s a reason our HCAN team works with aging adults – because we all had an HCAN Hero. HCAN Heroes is our story series, celebrating and honoring loved ones who came before us.

Nigel’s HCAN Hero Story

HCAN [Sarpy/Lincoln] team member Nigel O’Mahony was kind enough to share the story of his grandpa Johnny, the best painter in Cork, Ireland, through the ’60s.
